Well after a few years break from our round Australia travels we were back in the saddle and off again. This time undertaking a similar route to our year 2000 trip. We departed on May 1, heading north through Ouyen, Burra and Roxby Downs to Coober Pedy. From there up the Stuart Highway to Alice Springs then on to Katherine. We then head due west through Kununurra, to Broome. We booked a cruise on the Kimberley Quest II travelling through the Buccaneer Archipelago and the Bonaparte Archipelago spending 8 days exploring many of the Kimberley region’s islands and inland waterways. On return to Broome we headed north up the Dampier Peninsula to revisit Middle Lagoon and Cape Leveque
We journeyed south through to Perth along the coast with a short detour into the Pilbara region to visit Karijini National Park then back to the coast and on to Exmouth. From there we continued our southward journey to Perth, around to Albany via the coast, across the Nullabor and then back home to Melbourne.
Again we traveled with our caravan and the back of the Toyota Prado set up with all our camping gear. At different times during the trip, we stored the caravan and took off to experience camping life. Our biggest camping trip was the Gibb River Road with shorter camping trips to Ayers Rock, Kings Canyon, the Macdonnell Ranges, El Questro and the Dampier Peninsula. Total trip distance was 22,000 km and took 5 months
